Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
3 c. milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
3/4 c. flaked coconut, divided
1 1/2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
1 basic pastry shell
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. to 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients in a heavy saucepan.
Combine milk and egg yolks.
Gradually stir into sugar mixture.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Stir in 1/2 cup coconut, butter and vanilla.
Immediately pour filling into baked pastry shell.
Cover filling with waxed paper.
