Anadama Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. hot water
    1/2 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. molasses
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 tsp. salt
    1 envelope dry yeast
    1/4 c. lukewarm water
    6 c. flour
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil.
    Add cornmeal slowly.
    Cook water and cornmeal together for just a couple of minutes.
    Add molasses, salt and shortening.
    Cook together until ingredients are well mixed. Start adding sifted flour.
    When mixture makes a stiff dough, turn onto a floured surface.
    Start kneading, adding flour as needed, until dough is smooth and glossy.
    Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover, place in warm spot to rise until doubled.
    Poke down and let rise once more.
    Turn onto floured surface; let relax 10 minutes. Make into 2 loaves.
    Place in loaf pans, cover and let rise until about doubled.
    Bake 10 minutes at 450\u00b0, reduce heat and bake 20 minutes more at 325\u00b0.
    Cool on rack.
