Ingredients

1/2 loaf white bread
1 qt. ripe strawberries
3/4 to 1 c. sugar (depending on the sweetness of the berries
Preparation

Remove the crust from the bread.
Mash and sweeten berries. Line a
pan with foil or wax paper and place the slices of bread on the bottom.
Spoon berries over the bread and alternate berries and bread until pan is filled.
Cover with wax paper and cardboard, slightly smaller than the pan.
Chill at least 8 hours or overnight.
To serve, invert on a platter.
Top with whipped cream.
Scatter fresh berries on top and around edge.
