German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 c. buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation

Melt
chocolate in boiling water.
Cool.
Cream
butter and sugar.
Add egg yolks, 1 at a
time,
beating
well
after each one.
Add melted chocolate and
vanilla.
Mix well.
Sift dry ingredients together and add
alternately
with buttermilk to chocolate mixture.
After beating until smooth, fold in egg whites.
Bake in 3 (8 or 9-inch) greased
Teflon
cake pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cool
and frost with Coconut-Pecan Icing.
Yields 1 (3 layer) cake.
