Mock Hare Soup(3 To 4 Persons) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large potatoes
    1 leek
    1 carrot
    1 stick celery
    1/2 turnip
    5 oz. coarse oatmeal
    2 cloves
    1 1/2 pt. stock or water
    1/2 oz. dripping
    pepper and salt to taste
    1 tsp. meat essence or cube
Preparation
    Chop vegetables; put in pan with dripping and fry thoroughly. Add oatmeal and cook until brown, stirring all the time to prevent burning.
    Add seasoning, cloves and stock and cook 1/2 hour on low heat.
    Sieve before serving; add meat essence and reheat.
