Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    3 eggs, separated
    2 c. flour
    3/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 can sour pitted cherries, drained
Preparation
    Mix sugar, salt and shortening.
    Beat in egg yolks, flour, vanilla, baking soda and milk.
    Add stiffly beaten egg whites. Fold in cherries.
    Grease and flour 2 cake pans (round).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
