Chocolate Covered Cherries - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1 c. marshmallow creme
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. almond extract
    4 c. confectioners sugar
    1 (16 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, well drained
    2 c. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
    2 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    In a mixing bowl, cream the butter. Add
    marshmallow creme, salt, extract and sugar; mix well. Knead into a large ball; chill for 1 hour. Roll into 1-inch balls and flatten into 2-inch circles. Wrap the circles around the cherries and carefully shape into balls. Place on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Cover loosely and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight
