Pork Chops And Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 (No. 2) can sauerkraut
    1 large apple, cut up in medium pieces
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown pork chops in shortening in a large heavy skillet. Season with salt and pepper.
    Remove chops from skillet; pour off the fat.
    Add sauerkraut and apples; mix thoroughly.
    Lay chops on top of kraut mixture.
    Cover skillet and cook over low heat 1 hour, or until chops are tender.
    Baste often with juices in pan.
