Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 lb. brown sugar (2 1/2 c.)
    1 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
    1 c. Eagle Brand condensed milk
Preparation
    Cook on medium heat to 245\u00b0 on a candy thermometer stirring occasionally (takes about 45 minutes).
    Take from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
    Put in a square 8 x 8-inch Tupperware pan. When completely cooled, remove from pan.
    Cut into small pieces and wrap in wax paper.
