Amish Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. diced dates
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. warm water
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    2 (3 oz.) pkg. butter pecan pudding mix (instant)
    3 c. milk
    Cool Whip
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients and set aside.
    Combine next 4 ingredients.
    Mix together and bake in a sheet pan at 350\u00b0.
    Beat together pudding mix and milk.
    Crumble cake into pudding mix, cool and serve with Cool Whip.
