Onion Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 gal. peeled and sliced onions
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
    2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Peel and slice onions and set aside.
    Make marinade of the water, sugar, vinegar and salt; boil.
    Pour boiling hot over the prepared onions and keep in refrigerator overnight.
