Baked Sweet Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. large sweet onions
    1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
    1 c. half and half
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
    8 (3/4-inch) slices French bread
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
Preparation
    Slice onions; cut each slice in half.
    Saute onion in 1/4 cup butter in a Dutch oven until crisp-tender.
    Spoon into a lightly greased baking dish.
    Spoon into a lightly greased baking dish. Combine soup, half and half, salt and pepper.
    Pour mixture over onion.
    Sprinkle cheese evenly over sauce.
    Arrange bread slices on top and brush with 3 tablespoons butter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
