Swiss Steak - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. steak (1-inch)
1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. cooked canned tomatoes
1 medium onion, sliced
Preparation

Combine and pound the flour, salt and pepper into the steak. Brown slowly in shortening in a heavy skillet.
Pour tomatoes over meat.
Top with sliced onion.
Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Cover and bake about 1 hour, until steak is fork-tender.
Makes 6 servings.
