Mexican Build-Up - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 small onion, chopped (I use frozen)
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    3 tomato paste cans water
    1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes and green chilies
    1 tsp. powdered oregano
    1 tsp. cumin seed
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 medium cloves garlic, minced (optional)
    1 c. uncooked rice
Preparation
    Crumble beef into skillet.
    Brown; add onion.
    Drain off grease.
    Add remaining ingredients; mix.
    Bring to boil, then simmer until rice is done and mixture is thick (about 40 minutes).
