Ingredients

2 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar (white or brown)
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 eggs, well beaten
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
Preparation

In saucepan, heat 1 1/2 cups milk and sugar to simmer in heavy saucepan over low heat.
Mix 1/2 cup milk and cornstarch in cup. Stir into hot milk.
Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened and starting to boil, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir about 1/2 cup of hot mixture into beaten eggs.
Dribble egg mixture into pan and stir over low heat for 1 minute.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Serve warm or chilled.
