Scotch Toffies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. rolled oats (uncooked, regular or quick)
    2/3 c. melted margarine
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. dark corn syrup or honey
    1 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. chocolate bits
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Pour melted margarine over rolled oats.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
    Pack down firmly into well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 (300\u00b0 in glass) for about 25 minutes until mixture is a rich brown color and bubbling. Remove from oven; cool slightly in pan, then cut into squares and remove.
    (If toffies harden before they are cut, reheat slightly.) Makes 24 squares.
