Cherry Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 tsp. almond extract
Preparation
    Mix together butter, shortening, sugar, vanilla, eggs, flour and salt.
    Put in 9 x 13-inch pan (save 1/4 of batter to put on top).
    Stir almond extract into cherry pie filling.
    Spread over crust and top with spoonfuls of reserved batter.
    Bake for 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
