Tomatoes - Scalloped - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/4 c. butter
    3 slices bread (2 1/4 c.), crumbled
    6 medium tomatoes, peeled and sliced (about 3 1/2 c.)
    salt
    pepper
    sugar
Preparation
    Cook onion in butter until tender. Stir in bread crumbs in a 1-quart casserole dish.
    Layer half the tomatoes.
    Sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar. Cover with half the crumb mixture. Repeat layers.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
