Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
2 oz. red coloring
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream together Crisco and sugar; add eggs.
Make a paste of cocoa and red coloring in a small bowl; add to creamed mixture. Sift together flour and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Dissolve baking soda in vinegar in a small bowl; add this with the vanilla to the red mixture.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350\u00b0 in 2 (8-inch) rounds or 1 (9 x 13-inch) pans.
