Mother Sawyers' Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. molasses
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. buttermilk
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Make dough as you would for cookies, adding enough plain flour to make a stiff dough.
    Roll out thin and cut with desired size lid for uniform shape.
    Bake on cookie sheet at 375\u00b0 for 7 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
    Cool slightly before adding apples.
