Lollipops - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. Karo light corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. peppermint, spearmint, lemon or orange extract
    food color
Preparation
    Place 42 lollipop sticks, 4-inches apart, on greased sheets or foil.
    In heavy 2-quart saucepan, stir together the first three ingredients.
    Stir constantly over medium heat until mixture boils.
    Continue cooking without stirring until small amounts of mixture are dropped into very cold water and becomes hard brittle threads.
    Cool slightly.
    Stir in flavor and food color just enough to mix.
    Drop candy mixture from tip of teaspoon over one end of each stick to form 2-inch circle.
    (If mixture hardens before all lollipops are made, stir over low heat just until mixture is melted.)
    Makes 42 lollipops.
