1 small onion, quartered
grated cabbage
leftover gravy or bacon drippings
sausage
1/2 c. vinegar (plus)
4 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. oatmeal (for thickening)
Preparation

Cook onion with cabbage in salt water.
Pour leftover gravy or bacon drippings into mixture.
Heat vinegar, plus sugar.
Add to mixture.
Add oatmeal for thickening.
