Cranberry Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. (scant) baking soda
    1 c. sugar
    juice and rind of 1 orange
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 beaten egg
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. raw cranberries
Preparation
    Sift flour,
    salt, baking powder, baking soda and sugar together twice.
    Then
    put
    juice
    and
    finely chopped rind of orange in cup
    and
    add
    shortening
    and fill remainder of cup with boiling water
    to
    3/4 full.
    Add juice and beaten egg to dry ingredients.
    Also add nuts and cranberries (cut in half). Makes two small loaves.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
