Fruited Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (4 serving size) pkg. Jell-O brand gelatin (any flavor)
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. cold water
    ice cubes
    1 (4 oz.) container Cool Whip, thawed
    1 (8 to 8 1/2 oz.) fruit, drained (or use 2/3 to 1 c. sliced or diced fresh fruit)
Preparation
    Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
    Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 1 1/2 cups.
    Add to gelatin and stir until slightly thickened.
    Remove any unmelted ice.
    Measure 1 cup and fold into whipped topping.
    Pour into 8-inch square pan.
    Place fruit over creamy layer, then spoon remaining gelatin over fruit.
    Chill until firm, about 3 hours.
    Cut into squares.
