Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 qt. sliced cukes (measure by packing into quart jars)
    10 large sliced onions
    1/2 c. pickling salt
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 qt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    2 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Place cucumbers and onions in large pot.
    Sprinkle pickling salt over cucumbers and onions.
    Cover with water.
    Stand for 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Mix vinegar, sugar, turmeric and mustard seed together.
    Pour over cucumbers and onions.
    Bring to a boil and boil 5 to 10 minutes.
    Seal hot.
