Mexican Cornbread - cooking recipe

1/2 c. melted shortening
5 to 6 jalapeno peppers, chopped
1 c. cheese
1 large can cream-style corn
2 1/2 c. buttermilk
3 c. self-rising corn meal
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 large onion
