Granddaddy'S Irish Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. beef stew meat
    pepper and flour
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil (about)
    1 bunch carrots, sliced
    8 to 10 \"new\" potatoes
    6 to 8 small onions
    salt and pepper
    1 (9 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 1/3 cans water
    pinch of sweet basil
    celery flakes
    pinch of thyme
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
Preparation
    Cut meat into small pieces.
    Sprinkle meat with pepper and flour.
    Brown in hot skillet in vegetable oil.
    Add a small amount of water; cover and simmer 1 hour.
