Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    9 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. soda
    3 large apples, chipped
    3 tsp. allspice
    3 tsp. nutmeg
    2 qt. walnuts
    1 lb. raisins
    1 lb. candied cherries
    1 pt. peach or apricot preserves
    1 pt. strong coffee
    5 c. brown sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3 tsp. cinnamon
    3 tsp. cloves
    2 qt. pecans
    1 lb. butter
    1 lb. candied pineapple
    1/2 lb. dates
    1 pt. fig preserves
    2 eggs
Preparation
    Melt butter in hot coffee and set aside.
    Mix dry ingredients. Add nuts and fruit, stirring after each addition.
    By now, coffee should be warm.
    Break eggs into it, stirring.
    Add to the dry ingredients.
    Stir in the preserves.
    Pour (or throw) mix into well-greased pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0, time varies by pan.
    Loaf pans take about 1 1/2 hours.
    Use a toothpick to check, or bake at 300\u00b0 for 2 hours.
    Place a pan 1/2 full of water in the oven while baking.
    Makes 4 to 6 cakes, depending on the size of the pans.
