1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. peanut butter
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp. milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Combine shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, milk and vanilla.
Beat until well blended.
Add egg. Beat until blended.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda.
Add to cream mixture.
Mix until just blended.
Drop by tablespoons onto a cookie sheet.
Flatten slightly in a criss-cross pattern with a fork.
Bake for 7 to 8 minutes, or until beginning to brown.
Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet.
Remove and cool completely.
