Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 to 3/4 head lettuce, cut up
    1 small bell pepper, chopped
    1 small can English peas, drained
    5 stalks celery, chopped
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 small can Parmesan or grated cheese
    1 small can bacon bits
Preparation
    Mix celery, pepper, onion and English peas.
    Stack layer of lettuce, then layer of mixture, etc.
    Add the sugar to the mayonnaise; smear on top.
    Sprinkle the Parmesan or grated cheese over top.
    Sprinkle the bacon bits on top.
