Holiday Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pkg. Great Northern beans
    1 (32 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 large red bell pepper, chopped
    1 large garlic, chopped
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. each: thyme and tarragon
    1 Tbsp. each: parsley flakes and paprika
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1/2 c. white wine
    1/2 tsp. each: basil and celery salt
    salt and pepper to taste
    ham hock
Preparation
    Wash beans, place in large pot, cover with water and soak overnight.
    Drain before cooking.
    Add 2 quarts water and ham hock or ham quarters.
    Simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
    Add onion, tomatoes, bell pepper and all other ingredients, including the wine.
    Simmer 30 or 40 minutes.
