Chocolaty Cake Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/2 c. water
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. flour, sifted
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 egg
    1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
    1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Melt chocolate in water; add 2/3 cup sugar.
    Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; stir in butter and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Set aside to cool.
    Sift together flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Add shortening, milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Add egg and beat.
    Pour this mixture into pie shell.
    Pour chocolate sauce over batter and sprinkle top with nuts.
    Bake in a preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 55 to 60 minutes or until cake tester stuck in center comes out clean. Yield:
    8 servings.
