Mom'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
    1 (3 oz.) cream cheese
    2 sticks margarine
    2 (1 lb.) boxes powdered sugar
    4 (1 oz.) pkg. sweet chocolate
    1/4 c. water
    1/4 c. shortening
    3 eggs
    2 1/4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk or 1 c. milk and 1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Put softened cream cheese and butter in a large mixing bowl. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir in powdered sugar gradually and mix well.
    Melt chocolate in 1/4 cup water in top of double boiler and stir into sugar mixture. Divide this into half.
    Reserve one half for frosting.
