Sweet-Sour Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 medium head (1/2 lb.) red cabbage
4 slices bacon, diced
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 small onion, sliced
Preparation

Prepare and cook 5 cups shredded cabbage.
Add 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice to cooking salted water.
Cook bacon dices until crisp and drain.
Drain fat from skillet, reserving 1 tablespoon.
Stir sugar and flour into fat in skillet.
Stir in water, vinegar, salt, pepper and onion.
Stir until thickened (about 5 minutes).
Stir bacon and sauce mixture into hot cabbage in saucepan.
Heat thoroughly.
Garnish with additional diced bacon.
Yields 6 servings.
