Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 1/2 c. peanuts
    1 tsp. water
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar and syrup in Dutch oven; cook over low heat until candy thermometer registers 300\u00b0.
    Remove from heat; stir in soda, water and vanilla.
    Spread mixture onto a warm buttered 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.
    Allow peanut brittle to cool; break into pieces.
    Yields about 2 pounds.
