Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    1 stick margarine
Preparation
    Stir sugar and milk; bring to a boil.
    Melt 1/2 cup sugar; while hot, stir melted sugar in milk and sugar while both are boiling.
    Stir in margarine.
    Cook to a soft ball stage (drop some drops of icing into a small bowl with cold water to test it). This is enough to icing a 2 layer cake.
