Ingredients

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. lard
1 c. milk
1/2 c. evaporated milk or cream
2 tsp. soda
3 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
nutmeg
3 tsp. vanilla
7 to 9 c. New Rinkle pastry flour
Preparation

Beat eggs.
Add sugars and vanilla.
Add milk and cream alternately with flour (save 2 cups flour).
Add softened lard (I beat lard with eggbeater until smooth).
Add rest of flour and soda, baking powder and salt.
