Egg Pastry For Deep Dish Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. cold water
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
    Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Combine water, egg and vinegar and add to flour mixture. Stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
    Shape dough into a ball and chill.
    Divide dough into 2 equal portions.
    Roll each portion to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use for making a 2-crust deep dish pie (such as Upside-Down Apple Pie) or for 2 single crust, deep dish pie shells.
