Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. finely chopped nuts (walnut)
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 can filling of choice (cherry, blueberry, etc.)
Preparation
    Cream margarine, add sugar; beat.
    Add egg; beat.
    Add nuts, flour and vanilla; mix well.
    Spread 2/3 of batter in 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Spread about 1/4 inch of any filling over batter, then spoon remaining batter randomly over filling.
    Bake for 10 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
    Cool.
    Cut in squares and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
