Mama'S Butter Brickle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. Gold Medal flour
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    3 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. vegetable shortening
    3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift together in large bowl the first 4 ingredients.
    Add shortening, milk and vanilla.
    Beat vigorously by hand or with electric mixer.
    Add 3 large egg whites.
    Beat 2 minutes longer. Pour into 2 (8 or 9-inch) greased and floured round pans.
    Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cool and ice with Browned Butter Icing.
