Ingredients

2 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg yolk
3/4 c. milk
Preparation

Use a glass or stone crock for the best results.
Combine the sugar, flour and salt; mix well.
Add the water and beat mixture to a smooth batter.
Add the vinegar.
Place in a warm place overnight.
You determine when starter is ready by the yeasty smell.
Store it in a refrigerator until ready to use.
If it is not to be used for several weeks, it should be frozen or dried to prevent spoiling.
This starter gathers yeast from the air to provide leavening.
