Date Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. white sugar, granulated
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 pkg. dates, chopped
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cook sugar, milk and butter to soft ball stage.
    Add chopped dates and cook again until candy forms a soft ball in cold water. Remove from heat and add chopped nuts.
    Stir until candy begins to stiffen slightly.
    Pour on smooth cloth which has been dipped in cold water and wrung dry.
    Shape candy in small roll and wrap in cloth.
    When cool, cut in slices.
    Candy may be kept in cloth until ready to eat.
