Christmas Cake From Australia - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 (No. 2 1/2) can crushed pineapple, drained
    3 eggs
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates
    3 to 4 oz. pkg. candied cherries
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, cloves, allspice and nutmeg
    1/2 lb. white raisins
    7/8 c. buttermilk
    1 pt. strawberry preserves
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 lb. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream the margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.
    Mix well. Sift dry ingredients together, except for the baking powder. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately.
    Fold in preserves and pineapple.
    Last, add dates, cherries, raisins and pecans.
    Bake in 4 layers at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    May take a little longer.
    When cold, put together with filling.
