Apple Cake In A Jar - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    2/3 c. water
    3 c. peeled apples, finely grated
    2/3 c. raisins (optional)
    2/3 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix ingredients together in the order given. Sterilize 7 to 9 wide-mouth pint jars and lids. Grease jars with shortening. Fill jars half full. Bake on middle rack in oven for 45 minutes at 325\u00b0. As soon as the cakes are done, remove jars one at a time from oven. Wipe rim of jars clean with a damp cloth and put on the hot sterile lid. Screw down the bands and let cool. DO NOT USE SMALL-MOUTH JARS. DO NOT ADD ANY OTHER INGREDIENTS. As cake cools, it will pull away from the sides of the jars. SHELF LIFE IS ONE YEAR.
