Fr. Bob'S Hot Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. corn oil
    1 green pepper, diced
    2 lb. ground beef
    1 (35 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
    1/4 c. New Mexico chili powder
    2 tsp. cumin
    1 tsp. salt
    1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained
    1 large onion, diced
    2 cloves garlic, diced
    2 c. beef broth
    3 Tbsp. tomato paste
    1 tsp. oregano
    1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper or more
Preparation
    Brown the meat in the corn oil and drain.
    Put the meat and all the other ingredients except for the beans into a large soup pot; bring to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally.
    Add the beans and simmer for 15 more minutes.
    Serve with cornbread and a mixed salad.
    (One can also add some grated Cheddar cheese to the chili.)
