Christmas Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 lb. shortening
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 c. black molasses
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    3 lb. or more flour
    1 lemon rind, grated
    1 nutmeg, grated
    2 oz. cardamon
    1 1/2 oz. anise
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs and molasses, then dry ingredients.
    Allow to stand in refrigerator for 2 days, to allow spice to go through.
    Roll out on floured board; cut with fancy Christmas cutters.
    Bake on cookie sheets in hot oven until golden brown (about 10 minutes).
    Place in airtight cans until ready to serve.
    Yields several hundred.
