Shipwreck Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 or 8 pieces bacon
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 medium size onion
    1/2 green pepper (if desired)
    2/3 c. ketchup
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    1 (32 oz.) can pork and beans
Preparation
    Cook bacon crisp, cool, crumble and set aside.
    Brown beef and drain.
    Add cut up onion and green pepper.
    Cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
    Combine ketchup and brown sugar; stir into beef mixture.
    Stir in pork and beans and bacon except for 2 tablespoons.
    Put mixture into 8 or 9-inch baking dish; top with remaining bacon.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
