Better Than Love Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box yellow cake mix with pudding in the mix
    1 can crushed pineapple
    1 to 1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 (3 oz. size) box vanilla pudding
    8 oz. Cool Whip
    coconut
Preparation
    Bake cake mix as directed in 9 x 11-inch pan.
    Simmer pineapple and sugar until syrupy.
    Spoon evenly over cake including liquid. Let set overnight.
    Cook vanilla pudding according to directions. Pour over cake when cool.
    Spread with Cool Whip.
    Sprinkle with coconut to taste.
    Add chopped pecans and maraschino cherries, if desired.
