Christmas Puffs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sifted 10x powdered sugar
    1 egg, separated
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. chopped pecans
    candied red cherries
Preparation
    Cream butter with powdered sugar until light.
    Beat in egg yolk and vanilla; gradually sift in flour and salt, blending well to make a stiff dough.
    Form into small balls (teaspoon is just right).
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    With a wooden spoon, make a well in center of cookie.
    Beat egg white until foamy in small bowl.
    Fold in sugar until meringue stands in stiff peaks. Fold in pecans; spoon into wells.
    Bake in oven at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Top each cookie with half a cherry.
    Makes 4 dozen.
