Ft. Indiantown Gap Fd Irish Stew(Eng. Co. 75) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. lamb cubes
    2 lb. beef cubes
    2 medium onions, chopped
    peanut oil
    16 c. boiling water
    2 cans tomato sauce (large)
    10 medium carrots, cut in half
    12 medium potatoes, cut in fourths
    1 or 2 bay leaves
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Brown lamb, beef and onions in large skillet using peanut oil; drain the oil from meat and onions.
    In a large kettle place beef, lamb and onions with boiling water and tomato sauce.
    Simmer for 1 hour.
    Add carrots, potatoes, bay leaves, salt and pepper.
    Cook until the carrots and potatoes are done.
    Serve with soft rolls or sliced French bread and plenty of butter.
    Great on a winter's day.
    Serves 8 people.
